There are two main types: HSV-1, which mainly causes oral herpes, and HSV-2, which is associated with genital herpes. The infection may be asymptomatic or cause painful blisters and sores.  <\/p>\n\n<p><strong>Types and Symptoms<\/strong><\/p>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Oral herpes (HSV-1): <\/strong>Causes blisters around the mouth and lips, which break and form painful sores.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Genital herpes (HSV-2): <\/strong>Characterized by sores in the genital area, accompanied by a burning sensation and itching.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Shingles: <\/strong>Caused by the varicella zoster virus (VZV) and appears as painful rashes along a nerve.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<p><strong>Transmission and Risk Factors <\/strong>The virus is transmitted through direct contact with the sores or bodily fluids of an infected person. Factors such as stress, fatigue, sun exposure, and weakened immunity can trigger herpes outbreaks. <\/p>\n\n<p><strong>Treatment and Prevention<\/strong><\/p>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Antiviral drugs:<\/strong> Reduce the duration and severity of symptoms.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Avoiding contact with active sores: <\/strong>Minimizes the risk of transmission.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Health and a strong immune system: <\/strong>Maintaining good health can limit outbreaks.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<p><strong>Living with Herpes <\/strong>Herpes is a chronic infection that can recur.
